We serve Kansas and northeast Oklahoma through our doctors, hospitals, senior villages a! nd health services.Via Christi Health is actively recruiting f! or full time and part time Pharmacy Techs on both day and night shifts. Position Summary: Responsible for accurate, efficient and timely preparation and distribution of medications and parenteral admixtures to inpatients and outpatients.

Under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist, performs non-judgmental aspects of pharmacy practice. Assists with billing support. Key Responsibilities/Essential Functions: Other duties may be assigned. Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of the job.

Accurately reads and interprets labels and fills first doses of medications. Independently uses inpatient pharmacy computer system to print labels, reports, fill lists, billing, etc. Fills 24 hour automated dispensing cabinet medications or surgery trays. Accurately restocks automated dispensing cabinets, following policies regarding bar code scanning, expiration dates, etc.

Extemporaneously packages bulk medications into unit dose packages, incl! udes accurately calculating expiration dates as mandated by regulatory agencies. Accurately fills floor stock requisitions. Prepares large and small volume parenteral products using aseptic technique to maintain sterility. Answers phone by the fourth ring properly (identifying department, stating name) and courteously.

Uses appropriate judgment when answering and triaging phone calls. Prepares non-sterile compounding products. Delivers controlled drugs, sterile products and automated dispensing cabinet medication carts to patient care areas. Returns medication to stock and rotates stock so that nearest expiration date is used first.

Accurately and efficiently checks assigned inventory stock locations for outdated medications each month. Accurately and efficiently checks assigned liaison floor stock locations. Accurately and efficiently refills code blue emergency medication trays. Accurately and efficiently restocks surgery supply cart stock to par levels.!

Sends medications to patient care areas via pneumatic tube an! d transportation services. Follows all departmental policies and completes assigned duties in a timely manner. Completes competencies within assigned time frame. Attends staff development and education programs.

Suggests opportunities for improvement to pharmacy services. May perform other duties as assigned or requested. Management Responsibilities: This position has no management responsibilities JOB REQUIREMENTS: Qualifications: Education and/or Experience High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required. Pharmacy technician career ladder: Pharmacy Tech Entry Level: High School Diploma or GED required.

Must also be registered with Kansas State Board of Pharmacy. Must obtain CPhT within 1 year of initial employment. Pharmacy Tech Level 1: High School Diploma or GED required. Must also be registered with Kansas State Board of Pharmacy and Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) required; OR must be registred with Kansas State Board of Pharmacy ! as a Pharmacy Intern.

Pharmacy Tech II: completes all requirements of the Pharmacy Technician Career Ladder to qualify for the Pharmacy Technician II position Pharmacy Tech III: completes all requirements of the Pharmacy Technician Career Ladder to qualify for the Pharmacy Technician III position Behavioral Skills A personal presence which is characterized by a sense of honesty, integrity and caring with the ability to inspire and motivate others to promote the philosophy, mission, vision, goals and values of Via Christi Health. Technical Skills Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel) Demonstrate ability to perform basic mathematical calculations. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations Must be registered with the Kansas State Board of Pharmacy (http://www.accesskansas.org/pharmacy/). Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) required within one year of initial employment.

Frequently able to use hands and fingers to pinch and manipulate while filling prescriptions and writing. Specific vision abilities that are required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus . Occasionally required! to detect unusual odors that could indicate environmental issues such as smoke. Working Conditions: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles.

The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Position Scope/Patient Population: Involved in the care of all patients, from neonatal to geriatric. Must be knowledgeable in all aspects of drug therapy and familiar with resources to find necessary information.
