Provides prescribed medications, drugs, and other pharmaceuticals according to professional standards
and practices.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
65% Prepare, package, label and dispen! se prescriptions.
10% Performs related work as required.
5% Orders, maintains and restocks drugs for dispensing.
5% Maintain and evaluate profile and comprehensive drug data file to evaluate
prescriptions for any drug interactions.
5% Manual compounding of special prescription formulas.
5% Consults with patients to determine medication compatibility. Instructs on effects of food
and alcohol intake. Warns of potential side effects.
5% Check all written prescriptions for completeness and/or accuracy. Discuss all questionable
or illegible orders with prescribing physician.
Performance Measurements:
1. Maintain professional, courteous relationship with all customers, physicians, nurses and
coâ€'workers.
2. Fill all prescriptions for waiting customers in most expedient manner feasible.
3. Observe all Federal and State pharmacy regulations.
4. Maintain well organized and clean work area.
5. Keep current o! n new developments in pharmaceutical profession.
6. Make c! ertain pharmacy is properly and sufficiently staffed during clinic hours.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Experience Six months to two years of similar or related experience.
Education Doctor of Pharmacy is required as is current licensure or ability
to attain licensure as a pharmacist in the State of Kansas.
Interpersonal Skills The ability to motivate or influence others is a material part of
the job, requiring a significant level of diplomacy and trust.
Obtaining cooperation (internally and/or externally) is an
important part of the job.
Physical Requirements Frequent standing or walking for extended periods of time.
Frequently lifts and carries items weighing 50 lbs. Requires
eyeâ€'hand coordination, manual dexterity and the ability to
read and note appropriate measurements.
Work Environment Requires ability to work in stressful situations or work irregular hours.
Requires exposure to toxic substance. - .
