DUTIES:
A Pharmacy Technician at the Consolidated Mail Outpatient Pharmacy (CMOP) participates in the technical product dispensing and pharmacy operational support functions under the general supervision of the Supervisory Pharmacy Technician. You may work in any of the following areas: automated dispensing, labeling, manifesting, packing and receiving. With additional advanced training, you may be authorized to work in manual fill. Major duties of this position include but are not limited to:

Assembles and packages drugs and supplies for mailing to patients.

Transport stock from receiving to storage and dispensing areas.

Assists in daily cleaning,! to include emptying and/or relining trash receptacles and preparing ma! terials for recycling.

Recommends changes for the improvement of work flow, work methods and priorities involved.

Reports down time problems, actions and resolutions for all interruptions in production that exceed 10 minutes.

Accurately interpret, fills and ready prescriptions with appropriate medications and/or medical supplies for pharmacist verification.

Assist with basic inventorying activities and checks for outdated pharmaceuticals.

Complies with Safety, Occupational and Health Standards and Policy.

2:00 PM to 6:00 PM, Monday through Friday

Physical Requirements:
Work is performed in a highly mechanized warehouse setting around production machinery. Moderate noise and traffic requires attention to safety. Some work! areas involve a moderate risk requiring exercise of safety precautions when operating or working around the automated equipment. Wearing gloves is mandatory when handling specific medications. The work requires regular and recurring physical exertion, involving standing for prolonged periods of time, lifting/carrying of pharmaceutical supplies weighing up to 50 lbs and bending/stooping/reaching.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

GS-5 Experience:
One year of experience at the next lower level that equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to perform successfully the duties of the position. This experience is typically in or related to the position to be filled. Examples of experience may include: Accurately interpreting, filling and readying prescriptions with appropriate medications or supplies; assisting with basi! c inventory activities; labeling prescriptions accurately; operating au! tomated dispensing devices and equipment; and performing aseptic techniques.

GS-05 Education:
Successful completion of a four-year course of study above high school leading to a bachelor's degree that included at least 24 semester hours of courses related to pharmacy or pharmacy technology; successful completion of permanent specialized training courses in pharmaceutical and pharmacy services while serving in the Armed Forces creditable on a month for month basis up to the 1 year of experience required for GS-5; or at least 1 year of experience at the next lower level that demonstrates the core competencies (KSAs) described at the GS-4 level.
