DUTIES:
The Clinical Pharmacy Coordinator is responsible for the overall management of clinical pharmacy programs, the pharmacy residency training program, and Doctor of Pharmacy student clinical clerkship rotations for VA Eastern Kansas Health Care System. The Clinical Pharmacy Coordinator supervises mid-level practitioners, clinical pharmacy specialists, and postgraduate pharmacy residents. Additionally, the incumbent is responsible for developing, organizing, and managing multiple complex programs (i.e. consultative therapeutic drug monitoring, collaborative drug therapy management, quality assurance/utilization review, formulary management, drug information, etc.) for assigned health care team(s) and Pharmacy Service.

In addition to the responsibilities listed above, other duties include, but are not limited to:

Establishing, monitoring, and taking actions on quality management and performance improvement measures

P! erforming a full range of human resource management duties

Ser! ving as the Residency Program Director for postgraduate pharmacy residency program

Evaluating and monitoring medications for appropriateness of therapy and patient's response to therapy based on relevant therapeutic endpoints by means of patient interviews, physical and functional assessment, and diagnostic tests.

Coordinating and managing consultative therapeutic drug monitoring services as requested by providers on selected drug therapies.

Serving as clinical manager of pharmaceutical care programs in the outpatient and inpatient care areas as designated by the Chief of Pharmacy Service

Designing and/or participating in research studies and coordinating the research projects for pharmacy residents

Work Schedule: Primarily Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:30pm; may be required to provide coverage during irregular tours, weekends and holidays based on work assignments and need of the organization.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED! :
BASIC REQUIREMENTS:
U.S. citizenship. Non-citizens may be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.

Graduate of an Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) accredited college or School of Pharmacy with a baccalaureate degree in Pharmacy (BS Pharmacy) and/or a Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree. Graduates of foreign pharmacy degree programs meet the educational requirement if the graduate is able to provide proof of achieving the Foreign Pharmacy Graduate Examination Commission (FPGEC) Certification and the Test of English as a Foreign Language Internet-Based Test (TOFEL iBT).

TRANSCRIPTS REQUIRED

Full, current and unrestricted license to practice pharmacy in a State, Territory, Commonwealth of the United States (i.e., Peurto Rico), or the District of Columbia.

COPY OF CURRENT LICENSE REQUIRED

Must be proficient in spoken and written English as r! equired by 38 U.S.C. 7402(d) and 7407(d)

Preferred Experien! ce:
Preferred candidates will have a Doctor of Pharmacy degree, completed an accredited pharmacy residency with emphasis in ambulatory care and/or have extensive practice experience providing advanced medication therapy management.

GRADE DETERMINATIONS:
To qualify at the GS-13 level, in addition to the
basic requirements listed above, applicants must have 1 year of experience
equivalent to the next lower grade level. In addition, pharmacists at the GS-13
level must also demonstrate the following Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

(KSAs):
Ability to communicate orally and in writing to persuade clinical and
management decisions

Expert understanding of regulatory and quality standards for their program
area

Ability to solve problems, coordinate and organize responsibiliti! es to
maximize outcomes in their program area or area of clinical expertise.

Expert knowledge of a specialized area of clinical pharmacy practice or
specialty area of pharmacy

Advanced skill in monitoring and assessing the outcome of drug therapies,
including physical assessment and interpretation of laboratory and other
diagnostic parameters.
