The University of Kansas, School of Pharmacy, Department of Pharmacy Practice, invites applications for a full-time, 12-month nontenure-track faculty position at the Assistant or Associate Clinical Professor level for a specialist in Drug Information. The Department of Pharmacy Practice expects its faculty to contribute to the mission and goals of the Department and Schoo! l in the areas of teaching, scholarship, service and practice.! Salary and rank will be commensurate with the qualifications and expertise of the individual.

Required Qualifications

1. A terminal degree in Pharmacy (Doctor of Pharmacy from an ACPE accredited school with or without a Master of Science degree or Doctor of Philosophy in a related field).

2. Completion of minimum of two years of advanced training through a Residency or Fellowship with a Drug Information focus. Candidates with equivalent experience will also be considered.

3. Abilit! y to teach professional students in both didactic and experiential settings as evidenced by development of presentations or prior teaching experience.

4. Licensure as a pharmacist in Kansas within 6 months of hire.

5. Evidence of effective written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

1. Experience operating within or managing an academic drug information center.

2. Experience working with hospital formulary control and medication utilization policy is helpful for the interaction with KU Hospital Pharmacy Department.

3. Experience in professional writing and publishing.

4. Demonstrated competency in Clinical Pharmacy practice.

60% ! Teaching: The position will require the coordination and instructio! n of both didactic and clerkship courses in the Pharmacy School curriculum for Pharm.D. students. Clerkship teaching will require approximately three to four days per week year around. The position will participate in the development and presentation of lectures for the Drug Information didactic course. Persons may be asked to teach in other didactic courses as well. The position will instruct, supervise and evaluate pharmacy students in the Drug Information Center in Lawrence, Kansas as well as PGY1 and PGY2 residents on experiential rotations in the Drug Information Center in either Lawrence or Kansas City, Kansas.

10% Research: Faculty within the Department of Pharmacy Practice, are expected to engage in scholarly activity on an ongoing basis. Persons are expected to define their focus for research or scholarly activity, seek internal/external funding as appropriate, ! and present their findings. Because of the unique nature of Pharmacy Practice, collaboration is essential both within the department and externally with other healthcare professionals. Publication of completed research in peer-reviewed journals with a national or international stature is expected. Scholarly activity may also include published book chapters and professional abstracts. Presentations at local, state, national or international professional meetings, and scholarly contributions to professional pharmacy websites may also be included.

10% Service: The position will support the Profession, University, School of Pharmacy, and Department through their involvement and leadership roles with various committees and organizations. This may include holding elected positions in professional organizations, and serving on local, state and national professional organization! committees as well as editorial/reviewer activities for professional j! ournals. Persons may also serve the School as faculty advisors for pharmacy students or student organizations. Faculty may also serve their communities as a valued health care professional and citizen by providing community education and professional lectures.

20% Practice: There will be significant overlap between the practice activities and the clerkship teaching. In addition, the practice site will provide a basis for scholarship. The position requires the establishment, maintenance and advancement of a clinical practice in drug information that furthers the mission of the Drug Information Center. The primary practice setting will be the University of Kansas Drug Information Center located in the School of Pharmacy in Lawrence, Kansas. On occasion, the person may be expected to work at the Drug Information Center on the KU Medical Center campus in Kansas City.

The person shall be expected to develop a working relationship with the Department of Pharmacy staff at KU Hospital. In addition, the position requires the provision of drug information services to healthcare professionals for the state of Kansas as well as contracted healthcare professionals and patients where appropriate. Lastly, to the extent agreed upon by the Director of Pharmacy at KU Hospital, the Chair of Pharmacy Practice, and this employee, activities may include assisting with the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee, adverse drug reaction reporting, medication utilization and outcomes research, and newsletters relating to these topics. These functions should support the academic functions (teaching, scholarly activity) of the position
