.The University of Kansas, School of Pharmacy, Department of Pharmacy Practice, invites applications for either a full-time, 12-month nontenure-track at the Assistant or Associate Clinical Professor level or tenture track faculty position at the Assistant or Associate Professor level. The position requires the establishment, maintenance, and advancement of a clinical practice in a ! Geriatric Medicine ambulatory care setting. The Department of ! Pharmacy Practice expects its faculty to contribute to the mission and goals of the Department and School in the areas of teaching, scholarship, service and practice. Academic rank and Salary will be commensurate with the qualifications and expertise of the individual.

Required Qualifications

The successful applicant for this position shall possess a terminal degree (PharmD or equivalent) in their field. Licensure as a pharmacist in Kansas within 6 month of hire is required. Completion of a PGY1 pharmacy residency and PGY2 in geriatrics or ambulatory care is required for Clinical track applicants. Completion of a minimum of three years of post-graduate training is required for Tenure track applicants. Candidates with experience equivalent to this advanced training will be considered.

Preferred Qualifications

Completion of advanced training through a residency and/or fellowship with a clinical focus in geriatrics is preferred. Candidates s! hould have good communication, clinical, teaching, writing and research skills. Completion of a teaching certificate program or equivalent experience in teaching is also preferred. If advanced certification is available in the clinical field, the position is expected to complete this credential.

Teaching and Clinical Practice (Clinical Track Percent Effort 65%; Tenure Track Percent Effort 40%): The position will be responsible for the coordination, instruction and completion of didactic courses in the Pharmacy School curriculum for the Pharm.D. Program. In addition, the position requires the clinical instruction of pharmacy students in experiential rotations !

Teaching responsibilities will primarily be within courses taught by the Department of Pharmacy Practice and may include instruction in the Pharmacotherapy and Clinical Assessment courses and involvement with interprofessional education initiatives.

The position will include working as a clinical pharmacist in the geriatric interprofessional teaching clinic. This teaching clinic is a training ground for students to work in interprofessional teams to provide primary care related services to geriatric patients. In addition, establishment, and advancement of a clinical practice in other geriatric ambulatory care settings is encouraged. The person shall be expected to develop a solid working relationship with the medical team in the clinical field. The development of the practice site will support the academic functions of the position.

Service (Clinical and Tenure Track Percent Effort 20%): The position will support the Profession, University, School of Pharmacy, and Department through their involvement and leadership roles with various committees and organizations. This may include serving and chairing University, School of Pharmacy and Department committees, holding elected positions in professional organizations, and serving on local, state and national professional organization committees. Other responsibilities may involve serving as an adviser in supporting student organizations within the School and refereeing for granting agencies, journals and professional association meeting materials. Lastly faculty shall serve their communities as a valued health care professional and citizen by providing community education and professional lectures.

Research and/or Scholarship (Clinical Track Per! cent Effort 15%; Tenure Track Percent Effort 40%): Faculty within the Department of Pharmacy Practice, are expected to conduct research and/or scholarship on an ongoing basis. Because of the unique nature of Pharmacy Practice, collaboration is essential both within the department and with other healthcare disciplines. Publication and presentation of completed research is expected. In addition, seeking internal/external funding and maintaining an active research program is expected for Tenure track applicants. Research and/or scholarship focus is dependent on whether the applicant is in the Clinical or Tenure track.
